1221

1221 is a contemporary dance work based on trauma resiliency within the Black community. Inspired by a tweet stating, “As Black people [...] on December 21 our real DNA will be unlocked and majority will be able to do things that we thought were fiction,” the piece is a narrative duet exploring motifs of what it means to be super-human, bearing the weight of the world and where/with whom we place our trust.

This work was developed and premiered as part of Fly on A Wall's 2021 Excuse the Art program.
